SUMMARY OF POSITION:
-
Excellent opportunity available in the Neurosurgery department located at Penn State Health St. Joseph Medical Center. The team currently consists of 3 physicians and is seeking an Physician Assistant to join the team. Variety of work both Inpatient and Outpatient, and some Surgery/OR time if desired. Culture of Respect, Integrity, Teamwork, and Excellence is part of the PSH Culture. Great patient satisfaction expectations. Cerner EMR experience valuable. The successful candidate must be a good listener, have clear verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to work in various hospital settings including Inpatient Hospital Ward, Emergency department, ICU, PACU, and OR. Previous experience in neuroscience and a track record of successful practice in a collaborative environment is preferred.

This position includes weekday call, less than 5 nights per month providing coverage for hospital calls for current inpatients and answering service for outpatients. The Physician Assistant would also rotates in the weekend call schedule to cover generally 1 weekend per month depending on staffing. This includes rounding on inpatients to write notes, provide inpatient care and coordinate discharges.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):
-
Graduate of an AMA approved Physician Assistant Program or baccalaureate or higher degree program that meets licensure requirements in the State of Pennsylvania required.
National Certification in Pennsylvania or in another State with reciprocity and licensure to practice in Pennsylvania required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATION(S):
Relevant experience preferred.
