Description
Oversee the Camp Adler program at Mid-Island Day Camp reporting to Camp Director and Adler Center Director. This is a seasonal position with full time hours while camp is in session for the eight weeks over the summer and part-time hours that will vary during the months of September to June.
Essential Functions:
· Model and promote the organization’s mission, values and guiding principles through positive attitude, appropriate appearance, words, and actions, as well as in compliance with organization’s policies and procedures.
· Engage in opportunities to positively interact with members leading to a positive member experience.
· Assist in the recruitment, training, supervision, discipline, and termination of staff in Camp Adler
· Lead and/or attend all staff meetings and orientations held before and during camp season.
· Provide effective management and motivation to program and camp staff.
· Prospective participant intakes/interviews.
· Oversee all the special needs groups in camp and serve as the direct supervisor to the staff assigned in those areas.
· Coordinate and provide direct service, as needed, to children with special needs in all groups of the camp program.
· Supervise all staff assigned to your area communicating daily, conducting evaluations and write ups as needed.
· Communicate with parents as needed when issues arise that require further assistance beyond the staff member assigned.
· Help ensure that staff are maintaining a safe, healthy, age-appropriate, and orderly environment, focusing on the individual needs of each participant, as well as the needs of the group.
· Model appropriate language and behavior.
· Keep the camp director informed of any issues that occur during the program.
· May be assigned to other tasks and duties as directed by the camp director.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position has supervisory responsibilities. This position oversees all Camp Adler group leaders, division leaders, and/or specialist and supervisor in your assigned area and throughout camp.
Requirements
Required Education and Experience
Prior camp supervisory experience is a MUST!
10 + years’ experience working with the special need’s population and their families.
Master’s degree in special education, social work, psychology, or related field
