Company History
When Terry Loebel began delivering local savings offers in an envelope in 1968, his sales staff turned heads by zipping around town on roller skates. Today Valpak turns heads by incorporating technology from the latest Internet innovations, to consumer research on best ad design practices, to leading edge manufacturing processes.
•2010 - Valpak returns to Quebec, plans further expansion across Canada
•2009 - Valpak introduces mobile coupon apps for iPhone, Android and Blackberry
•2008 - Valpak celebrates its fortieth anniversary.
•2007 - The first inserts were printed at our new $200 million, 470,000 square-foot leading-edge manufacturing facility.
•2006 - Valpak was the launch partner with Google to provide online coupons through Google Maps.
•2003 - Training and development programs for everyone in the company are expanded with the rollout of Team One (to support first year franchises) and Group Blue and the addition of Leadership and Sales training programs.
•2002 - Valpak launches its re-branding campaign with the largest advertising support to-date of $7 million and introduces a new envelope, moving to a regionally coordinated mailing schedule covering most markets monthly.
•1994 - We begin bringing additional savings online by registering Valpak.com.
•1991 - Cox Enterprises, Inc. purchases Valpak Direct Marketing Systems, Inc. forming Cox Target Media, Inc., a division of Cox Newspapers.
•1988 - The first Coupon U Sales Convention is held.
•1982 - Valpak expands into Canada with Valpak of Canada Limited.
•1981 - The Valpak Dealer's Association is formed to create local training and marketing materials the Home Office can not provide. Joe Bourdow helps to create these from his office in Midlothian, VA. Joe starts out as a sales rep with a local Valpak office and goes on to become the current President of Valpak.
•1977 - Valpak spreads by word of mouth across the United States.
•1972 - First Valpak distributorship established in Orlando, FL.
•1968 - Terry Loebel, Valpak founder, mails 14 coupons in a local, cooperative envelope to 20,000 households in Clearwater, FL.
