University of North Carolina at Charlotte is North Carolina's urban research university. It leverages its location in the state's largest city to offer internationally competitive programs of research and creative activity, exemplary undergraduate, graduate and professional programs, and a focused set of community engagement initiatives. Founded in 1946, the main campus sits on 1,000 acres with approximately 85 buildings just 8 miles from Uptown Charlotte. UNC Charlotte is the largest institution of higher education in the Charlotte region and the fastest growing universities in the UNC System. The University’s current enrollment is 29,317 students with 139 programs leading to Bachelor's degrees, 63 programs leading to Master's degrees and 23 programs leading to Doctoral degrees.
